    Chief Operations Officer

Ethos Care is a leading multi-site residential care group, is seeking an experienced Chief Operations Officer (COO) to join its senior leadership team. This is a key executive role with overall responsibility for driving operational performance, organisational effectiveness, and sustainable business growth across a national portfolio of services.

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the COO will play a pivotal role in executing the organisation’s strategic vision, ensuring that operational structures, systems, and teams are aligned to deliver high-quality, consistent, and efficient services. The role requires a strong focus on performance management, governance, and continuous improvement within a regulated environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for translating strategy into clear operational plans and measurable outcomes, leading multi-site operations, and embedding a culture of accountability, excellence, and continuous improvement across the organisation.

As COO, you’ll take ownership of day-to-day performance across our nursing home network, ensuring each home is running effectively, safely, and in line with our values. You’ll work closely with the CEO and leadership team to turn strategy into action—and results.

    What You’ll Bring

    Education & Qualifications

    • A Level 8 (Honours) degree in Business, Management, Finance, Operations, or a related field
    • A postgraduate qualification (e.g. MBA or Master’s in Strategy, Leadership, or Operations) is a strong advantage
    • Professional certifications in project management, leadership, or operational excellence are a plus

    Experience

    • 10–15 years’ experience in operations, corporate management, or a related sector
    • 5+ years in a senior leadership or executive role with full accountability for performance
    • Proven success managing and optimising multi-site operations, ideally across diverse locations
    • A track record of driving efficiency, quality, and sustainable growth
    • Experience working within regulated environments with strong governance and compliance oversight

    Technical Expertise

    • Strong commercial and financial acumen, including P&L ownership, budgeting, and cost control
    • Skilled in operational planning, performance management, and KPI delivery
    • Experience leading transformation, scaling operations, and continuous improvement initiatives
    • Solid understanding of governance, risk, and compliance frameworks

    Leadership & Personal Impact

    • Strategic mindset with the ability to turn vision into execution
    • Proven leader who builds, develops, and inspires high-performing teams
    • Confident decision-maker who balances commercial, operational, and people priorities
    • Excellent communicator with the ability to influence at all levels, including Board
    • Resilient, adaptable, and effective in fast-paced, complex environments
    • Values-driven, with a strong focus on quality, accountability, and continuous improvement

    Desirable

    • Experience delivering digital transformation or process optimisation across multiple sites
    • Background in regulated, service-led sectors (e.g. healthcare, social care, hospitality)
    • Understanding of care environments or clinical governance structures (beneficial, not essential)

    Why This Role Stands Out

    • Genuine ownership of operations across a growing group
    • Opportunity to shape how the business scales over the coming years
    • Real impact on quality of care and resident outcomes
    • A leadership team that values practical execution, not just strategy

    Practical Details

    • Primarily remote, with travel to homes required
    • Presence in Athlone and Cork for leadership meetings
    • Competitive executive package

    Why Join Ethos Care?

This is an opportunity to play a pivotal leadership role in shaping the future of a growing nursing home group, driving operational excellence while ensuring the highest standards of care for residents. If you are a strategic, results-driven leader ready to make a meaningful impact and help shape the future of care delivery, we invite you to apply now.
