    Assistant Person In Charge

    Assistant Person in Charge (APIC) – Ethos Care 

    (Opening Early 2026 – Haven Wood Retirement Home & Village, Ballygunner, Waterford)

    We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Assistant Person in Charge (APIC) to join the leadership team of our new Ethos Care home in Ballygunner, Waterford, opening early 2026. This is an excellent opportunity to take on a senior leadership role within a supportive and forward-thinking organisation.

    About the Role

    The APIC will support the Person in Charge in leading and coordinating all aspects of resident care, staff management, and regulatory compliance. You will help create a positive learning culture, ensure high standards of care delivery, and contribute to maintaining a warm, respectful, person-centred environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Act as PIC in their absence, fulfilling all associated statutory duties.

    • Support the PIC in managing daily operations, staffing, and clinical governance.

    • Deliver and promote person-centred care of the highest standard.

    • Contribute to safeguarding residents through proactive oversight and reporting.

    • Lead, supervise, and motivate the nursing and care teams.

    • Act as a resource and mentor for nursing staff, supporting ongoing professional development.

    • Work flexible hours including day, night, and weekend shifts.

    Qualifications & Experience

    • Third-level nursing degree and active NMBI registration with PIN.

    • Minimum 6 years post-registration nursing experience.

    • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a nursing home environment.

    • Minimum 2 years’ management experience.

    • Post-registration qualification in healthcare management (or willingness to complete).

    • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
